Terms of Service

Chop Sampler, by GLYPHBYTE LLC. Effective date: November 5, 2026.

These terms are the agreement between you and GLYPHBYTE LLC ("we", "us") for your use of the Chop Sampler app and the website at chopsampler.com (together, "Chop"). By installing or using Chop you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Chop.

1. Who can use Chop

You may use Chop if you can form a binding agreement with us, or if a parent or guardian agrees to these terms for you. You must follow the laws that apply where you live.

2. Your license to use Chop

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Chop on devices you own or control, for personal or professional music making. You may not:

  • copy, sell, rent, or redistribute the app, or any part of it, outside of the Google Play Store;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the app, except where the law allows it;
  • remove or bypass any purchase checks or features that unlock paid content;
  • extract the built-in sounds, presets, voice clips, or artwork to sell or share them as a sound library or product of their own.

3. Your music and your sounds

You own the music, recordings, projects, and kits you make with Chop. We do not claim any rights in them.

You may use the sounds, synths, and presets that come with Chop inside your own music, including music you release or sell. You may not distribute them on their own as a sample pack, preset bank, or similar product.

You are responsible for the samples and audio you bring into Chop. Only use material you have the right to use. We are not responsible for content you load, record, or share.

4. Purchases

Chop is free to download. Some synths, effects, or features may be offered as in-app purchases. All payments are handled by Google Play under Google's terms, and Google's refund policy applies. A purchase unlocks the item for the Google account that bought it, for as long as Chop offers that item.

Where the law gives you a right to cancel a digital purchase, you agree that the content starts at once when you buy it, and that this may end the cancellation right to the extent the law allows. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

5. Hardware and other services

Chop can work with MIDI controllers, USB audio and storage devices, and hardware such as Akai MPC units in controller mode. Chop is an independent app. It is not made by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Akai Professional, inMusic, or any other hardware maker. "MPC" and "Akai" are trademarks of their owners and are used only to describe compatibility.

Connecting hardware is at your own risk. Follow the maker's instructions, and back up your work and your devices. Features that depend on third-party hardware, software, or services (for example Google Play, Google Drive, or Ableton Link) may change or stop working when those parties change them.

6. Your data

How we handle data is described in our Privacy Policy. Your projects and samples are stored on your device or in storage you choose. Keep your own backups; we cannot recover work that is lost on your device.

7. Updates and changes

We may update Chop, add or remove features, or stop offering it. We may change these terms; when we do, we will update the effective date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app or on our website. Using Chop after a change means you accept the new terms.

8. No warranty

Chop is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that Chop will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose. Music software and devices can crash or lose data; please save and back up often.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, GLYPHBYTE LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost work, or lost profits, arising from your use of Chop. Our total liability for any claim about Chop is limited to the amount you paid us for Chop in the 12 months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

10. Ending these terms

You can stop using Chop at any time by uninstalling it. We may end your license if you break these terms. Sections 3, 8, 9, and 11 continue after the terms end.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer living in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts.
